Is Scrooge McDuck related to Donald Duck?

The Duck family, is a fictitious family of cartoon ducks, that is linked to the Disney icon Donald Duck. The family is also linked to the Coot, Goose, and Gander families, as well as the Scottish Clan McDuck. Huey, Dewey, and Louie, Donald’s three triplet nephews, are the most well-known members of the Duck family, other from Donald.

The Duck family is often seen in Donald Duck comic books (though some have made animated cameos). Don Rosa, who was an American comics author, created a Duck Family Tree in 1993, which established the relationships of the characters in his stories.

He also made up a fake timeline for when various characters were born (all of the birth/death dates shown below are Rosa’s). Other comic book creators, both before and after him, have depicted variants in the family.

Carl Barks was in his second decade of making comic book adventures about Donald Duck and his different family in the early 1950s. He had invented numerous of the latter, including Scrooge McDuck (Donald’s uncle) and Gladstone Gander (Donald’s cousin). Barks built a family tree to further identify their relationships, including some previously unknown ancestors, so he could fill in the gaps.
